- Kuriakose Elias Chavara was born on 10 February 1805 at Kainakary, Alappuzha, Kerala.

- Known as Father of Literacy.
- In 1829 He was ordained a priest.
- In 1830 he went to Mannanam,Kottayam.
- In 1831 founded CMI.
- In 1846 Started the printing press in Kerala which was the first press in kerala founded by a Malayali without the help of foreigners.
- Also in 1846 started first catholic Sanskrit school in kerala.
- In 1865 he became the President of CMI(Carmelites of Mary Immaculate).
- In 1866 he founded CMC(Congregation of the Mother of Carmel).
- In 1871 Jan 3 death of Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara at Koonammavu.
- In 1987 The President of India R Venkitaraman, released the postal stamp of Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara.
- On 23 November 2014, he was canonized at Saint Peter's Square by Pope Francis.
